Properties

Deeply penetrating alkyd primer for long-term wood protection.

  • Good penetration properties; active ingredients penetrate deep into the wood
  • Provide reliable protection from a variety of microorganisms, including Aspergillus niger, Aureobasidium pullulans, Penicillium funiculosum, Ulocladium consortiale, Chlorelle fusca, Stichococcus bacillaris etc.
  • Contains modified alkyd resin, which improves the adhesion of the decorative coating to the wooden surface
  • Contains highly purified and low aromatic solvents
Maximum permissible EU VOC content for the product (subcat. h): 750 g/L. Maximum VOC content in the product <750 g/L.

Use conditions for the wood:
  • Use Class 3 in accordance with EN 335

Purpose

Meant for priming wooden surfaces and façades, including those in environments with high humidity, drastic temperature changes, permanently exposed to sunlight; façade elements located next to drains (eaves); damaged areas identified in the course of repairs; for priming terraces, floorings, walkways, handrails, stairs, cribwork, log structures, window frames, doors, gates, fences and garden furniture. Can be used   in wet or regularly wetted locations for priming construction and framework wood, walls, baseboards, ceilings, partitions, window frames, doors, window sills, furniture, floors, stairs, handrails, etc. as well as wooden items and structures kept in sheds or in unheated rooms.

Do not use for wood contacting soil, ground water or the marine environment.

Do not use as the final coating; a finishing coat for wooden surfaces must be applied on top.

Not recommended for indoor use in dry rooms.

Types of surfaces to be treated

Wooden surfaces, chipboard, plywood and veneer: new untreated or after the removal of earlier coating. Suitable for sawn or planed wood. Do not use for treating wood contaminated by microorganisms or infested by pest insects.

Quality standards

  • VOC (volatile organic compounds) – content in accordance with the European Union directive 2004/42/CE
  • EN 335 [Durability of wood and wood-based products] – classification standard of wood service conditions and principles of chemical protection
  • Product and service quality is guaranteed by the quality, environmental protection, occupational health and safety management system in accordance with standards ISO 9001:2015; ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018

Surface preparation before treatment

Wood moisture content must not exceed 20%. Perform application at the temperature above 5 °C and relative humidity up to 80%. Clean the surface thoroughly from dirt, grease and dust. The wood must not be damaged by algal growth. Use the WoodClean wood cleaning agent or Biotol E anti-mould agent to pre-treat the surfaces damaged with blue stain or mould. Clean previously painted surfaces completely, using a scraper, a stiff brush, a heat gun or a paint or varnish remover OPS Pro. Remove the darkened areas of the wood mechanically, using a stiff brush, and replace dead wood. Use galvanised fasteners for fastening treated wooden parts. Pre-treat untreated metal parts (nail-heads or braces) with anticorrosive primer. Finish treating outdoor surfaces so that the surface can dry before the evening dew falls. We do not recommend performing the application in direct sunlight or at high temperatures. Please pay attention to the constructional methods of protecting wooden surfaces: good waterproofing of walls and the roof, water drainage and ventilation. The result of using wood protection products depends on the adequate use of constructional methods of the protection of wooden surfaces.

Application

Stir the product thoroughly before application.  Do not dilute! Apply 2 coats at the temperature above +5 °C and relative humidity below 80%. Saturate board and log ends with the product thoroughly. Remove the primer that has not been absorbed with a cloth, preventing a “fatty” film from forming on the surface, which can weaken the adhesion of the top coating. The treated surface can be painted over with water-borne paints in 3–5 days at the earliest or coated with decorative products for wooden surfaces, alkyd-based or oil-based paints in 12 hours at the earliest. Do not use as the final coating; a finishing coat for wooden surfaces must be applied on top.
